I spent one year contracting with Discord, primarily working with the marketing team responsible for a key piece of Discord’s revenue stream; their ad product called Quests.
I was closely embedded with the product marketing management team and helped both roadmap the workstreams and marketing asset needs for the year as well as produce their creative brand design work.
This included a wide range of deliverables and support:
• Roadmapping of marketing workstreams and priorities
• Establishing clear and shareable brand guidelines for the B2B brand within the overall Discord design brand guidelines.
• Static assets for social and web
• Website pages and website updates for Discord.com
• Quarterly email newsletters
• Creative atmospheric 3D animated video for the Discord party at Cannes
• Educational demo videos showing animated Discord UI for use on the website and in sales meetings
• Event-supporting design assets such as invites, social assets, menus and table-toppers, and merch: custom fridge magnet poetry, bag charms, and more
• Design and copy polishing for executive presentation decks
• Master deck templates for the Sales team to be able to self-serve
• Partnership-based assets such as the Success Story website pages
• An award trophy
I worked with many XFN teams including the web development team, ad sales teams, comms, marketing team and leadership, CRM team.
I was able to draw on my experience as a program manager and an executive producer to not only produce the needed deliverables in- and out-of-house, but to recognize overarching needs within the teams and offer solutions to improve and streamline the processes. I did this by planning ahead, organizing deliverables and needs, and smoothing stakeholder approval processes.
This resulted in the team having more room to pivot when unexpected changes and additions came up, fewer pivots overall as needs were better anticipated and planned, and XFN stakeholders that were aligned from the start on goals and direction.
